My name is Samuel Williams and I am a rising Junior at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. With the generous support of Charles H. Salisbury’s International Internship Award, I have been given the opportunity to travel through Europe and assist in dendrochronology research under Mr. Paul Krusic, a researcher from Stockholm University. I will be using this study of dendrochronology, or tree ring research, to determine the affects of a changing climate on trees and other vegetation, while also mapping these changes over time. This research will take place in Greece, followed by an analysis portion of the data collected in Stockholm Sweden. Support for this projected is funded by Navarino Environmental Observatory “NEO” (a cooperation between Stockholm University, the Academy of Athens and TEMES S.A.), and Svenska Sällskapet för Antropologi och Geografi “SSAG”, (a Swedish Society that supports research through grants). I hope you follow my blog as I take you through my summer travels of 2013!
